Why did RackNerd move away from SolusVM?
Over time, SolusVM limited how quickly we could improve the panel and roll out new features. Building ctrl in-house lets us modernize the experience and ship the tools our customers have been asking for.
Has anything changed with my VPS?
No. Your VPS, IP address, data, and running services stay the same. Your server never skipped a beat during this transition. The only change is the control panel URL you use to manage it.
What features are new in ctrl?
Quite a few. The interface is fully modernized, so power controls, reinstall, console, and resource usage are easier to reach. You also get improved API support and API logging, One-Click Apps (including AI and automation stacks like Hermes Agent, OpenClaw, n8n, and Coolify), and a network firewall that many customers have requested over the years. The firewall is optional and filters traffic at the network level before it reaches your VPS, giving you an extra layer of security when you want it. Login history now shows when you last signed in and from which IP, and graphs and statistics are clearer overall. It is a more modern, refined panel experience, with no changes to your existing VPS service.
Are there any pricing changes?
No. There is no price increase tied to this upgrade. RackNerd is committed to modernizing your experience, bringing you more features, and continuing to deliver exceptional value.
Was my bandwidth usage reset?
Good news! As a courtesy during this upgrade, your bandwidth meter has been reset to zero. Going forward it will reset on the 1st of every month, just like before. You keep the same monthly allowance; this simply gives you a fresh start in ctrl.
What is my username and password?
Same as before. Sign in with your username (not your email) and the same password you used on the old panel. Usernames begin with the prefix vmuser (for example, vmuser12345). If you do not remember your password, use password reset with the email address on your panel account. We will email you your username and a link to choose a new password.
Will my two-factor authentication (2FA) still work?
Yes. Keep using the same authenticator app. Your existing 2FA setup carries over, and ctrl also includes improved recovery codes and a clearer login history.
What are One-Click Apps?
One-Click Apps let you reinstall a VPS with popular software already set up, including AI and automation stacks like Hermes Agent, OpenClaw, n8n, and Coolify, plus tools such as Portainer, Webmin, and CyberPanel. When the install finishes, login details appear in the panel. Important: a one-click install reinstalls the VPS and erases existing data on that server, so back up first if you need anything.
Do I still use nerdvm.racknerd.com?
No. Going forward, use ctrl.racknerd.com. Update any bookmarks you have for the old address.
Where do I manage billing and invoices?
Billing stays in your RackNerd client area at my.racknerd.com. ctrl is only for managing your VPS.
Do I need to reinstall or migrate my server?
No. This upgrade is a control panel change only, e.g. the server management panel that you use to start/reboot/reinstall/manage your VPS. The previous URL for this panel was nerdvm.racknerd.com - it is now ctrl.racknerd.com.
